Meet your guide at the San Sisto square and start your family adventure half-day tour of Viterbo. With your kid-friendly guide who knows how to keep children interested, you will discover the most popular attraction of the city with maximum comfort and enjoyment. You will learn the history and art of Viterbo through various fun activities, including quizzes, trivia and treasure hunt elaborated to encourage discussions and to pique the kids’ interest in history. Your guide will take you through the picturesque medieval streets of the Old Town and show you its most iconic landmarks.

You will visit the historic Palazzo dei Pappi (the Palace of the Popes) built in 1266 to house the Roman popes who escaped from Rome, when it became too dangerous. It is a place of a great historic value, where the first Conclave of history took place. You will visit the Conclave Hall, the Papal Loggia, the Gualterio Hall and Learn about the popes who lived there.

You will explore the main cathedral of Viterbo - Duomo di San Lorenzo. Located next to the Palace, this medieval church was built in 13th century, yet it was the place for coronation of some popes, elected in Viterbo.

You will see the third part of this area that unites the Palazzo dei Papi and the Catherdal, the Colle del Duomo Museum. It houses the interesting collection of artworks and Popes’ treasures from the Etruscan, Roman, and medieval periods.

Your guide will take you through the picturesque medieval streets of San Pellegrino neighbourhood, which has practically remained intact. That area has been often used as a film locations, thanks to its charming beauty full of historic monuments. You will pass by the lovely medieval buildings characterized by typical lancet windows and high terraced balconies and see some city’s landmarks such as San Pellegrino Church and the Alessandri Palace.

At the end of the tour, you will visit another important site of the city – the Palazzo dei Priori. With your guide you will explore its interior, richly decorated with precious frescoes from 16th century and learn about the history of the palace and its inhabitants in the past. You will see hall of the Madonna, the Regia Hall, the Council Hall, and the Landscapes Hall.
