About this experience

This shore excursion combines a short ferry crossing from Toulon with a scenic coastal loop on Cap Sicié. We meet at the Toulon pontoon, cross the harbor by boat, then continue toward the Fabrégas area to start the hike. The route follows rugged Mediterranean shoreline with cliffside paths, hidden coves, and wide open sea panoramas. Key stops usually include Plage de Malpasset, the former Cap Sicié semaphore for one of the best viewpoints in the area, and Fort Peyras, where we pause for stories about coastal defense and local maritime history. Expect around 9 km of hiking with moderate elevation and plenty of time for photos and breaks. The exact route may be adjusted if coastal sections are temporarily closed due to swell, landslides, or seasonal fire-risk restrictions.

Detailed itinerary

1

From Toulon, the experience begins at the ferry pontoon with a short walk from the cruise port area. We board the local water ferry and enjoy a roughly 25 minute crossing across Toulon’s rade. From the boat you will see the city’s waterfront, the naval harbor area, surrounding hills, and the entrance toward the open Mediterranean. The guide uses this time to point out key landmarks and explain the geography of the bay before we disembark on the opposite shore to continue toward the hike start.

2

take local transport (bus) together from the port to the trailhead at the entrance of the park. Once there, the hike begins along the coastal path with viewpoints and coves.

3

On the Sentier du Littoral near the Tour Royale, travelers will follow Toulon’s famous seaside path from cove to cove with constant sea views, rocky cliffs, and great photo spots over the bay. You’ll enjoy an easy-to-moderate coastal walk, pause at the best viewpoints, and get quick insights from your guide about the coastline, local life, and the historic maritime setting around the Tour Royale.

4

In Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer, travelers will hike a beautiful coastal loop with sweeping views over Toulon Bay and the open Mediterranean. Expect rugged shoreline scenery, pine-lined paths, and several photo stops at panoramic viewpoints. Your guide will point out key landmarks in the bay and share local context, with a short break along the way before returning along the coast.
