Travel from Algarve to Lisbon
Downtown Lisbon, also called Baixa Pombalina or Lisboa Pombalina because it was built by order of the Marquis of Pombal, following the 1755 earthquake, covering an area of around 255 ha. It is located between Terreiro do Paço, next to the Tagus River, Rossio and Praça da Figueira, and longitudinally between Cais do Sodré, Chiado and Carmo, on one side, and the Cathedral and the hill of Castelo de São Jorge, from the other.
