Winter in Yoho National Park is like stepping into a fairy tale, where snow-draped mountains, frozen waterfalls, and serene alpine landscapes create a magical wonderland.

One of the most admired destinations in Yoho National Park is Emerald Lake. This gorgeous emerald coloured lake is a result of the light refracting the deposit of rock flour in the lake. Emerald Lake is surrounded by the President Range that forms a natural amphitheater with towering forested banks. If you look carefully, you might be able to spot some really cool wildlife such as marmots, bald eagle, bears, loons, and the occasional moose!

Stop at the Natural Bridge along the way and admire the Kicking Horse River as it carves a path through ancient rock. You can view the incredible natural formation from different perspectives at vantage points with interpretive displays that tell you about interesting facts about Natural Bridge. This beautiful scenery is enhanced with the scenic mountains and lush forests in the background.

Next, we’ll take you to the magical Lake Louise, where the majestic Victoria Glacier stands tall, offering a breathtaking backdrop. From January to April (depending on the official opening dates), get ready for the world-renowned Ice Magic Festival! This transforms the area into a fairytale wonderland, with stunning ice and snow sculptures crafted by artists from around the world. It’s truly a winter paradise!

As one of the four iconic national parks in the Canadian Rockies, Kootenay National Park transforms into a winter wonderland, where snow-covered valleys, frozen canyons, and steamy hot springs create a breathtaking contrast of ice and warmth. (Visit from Oct.15 to Apr.30)

Ready for a scenic adventure? Start your journey with a light hike through Marble Canyon. As you cross multiple wooden bridges in a fun zig-zag pattern, you'll feel surrounded by towering limestone walls that will leave you in awe.
