The Former French Concession Shanghai, totally different from what you have imagined about the modern and busy Shanghai, is quiet and filled with lots of European style villas and buildings from the early 20th century. This full-day trip will take you to walk into the heart of old Shanghai – Xujiahui. Let’s visit a respectable lady’s former residence, take a stroll along a famous historical road, explore a “Little White House” in Shanghai and experience the inner design of a beautiful and historical Catholic Church.

Your tour guide will be welcoming you at exit 7 of Jiaotong University Station at 09:00 a.m. Then, we will walk to Wukang Road and start the one-day indepth walking tour.
Wukang Road is a famous historical and cultural road. On both sides of the road are plane trees and many European-style buildings built in the early 20th century, once inhabited by many celebrities. The Wukang Building, formerly known as the Normandie Apartments, is the landmark of Wukang Road. It boasts the first veranda style architecture in Shanghai.
After taking a stroll along Wukang Road, we will walk to Soong Ching-ling Memorial Residence.
The Soong Ching-ling Memorial Residence is where Soong Ching-ling, wife of Dr Sun Yatsen, lived for a long time, from 1948 to 1963. Its main building was built in 1920 and owned by a Greek shipping magnate who built the dwelling in the shape of a ship.
After visiting the residence, we will walk along South Wulumiqi Road and enjoy the exterior of Consulate General of the United States in Shanghai & Former Site of Consulate of France.
After lunch, we will head over to Shanghai Museum of Arts and Crafts.
This Museum is in a building built in 1905 originally as a home, and houses cultural relics. It has modern and contemporary pieces of art that exhibit the culture of Shanghai. The building itself is historic and inside is a small collection of pretty amazing ivory sculptures, as well as other local crafts. Visitors can experience the beauty of Chinese arts and crafts in the form of Jade, Ivory, Wooden, Textiles, Glass, Paper and even colorful Dough Modelling.
This will be your last stop.
As the major landmark of Xujiahui, the St. Ignatius Cathedral, locally known as Xujiahui Catholic Church is a beautiful and historical Catholic Church with a capacity of over 3000 people. Its nave is a long span of Gothic arches, while the exterior is ornamented with rows of menacing gargoyles. You will marvel at the beautiful architecture inside the cathedral.
