Let's explore one of the largest calderas in the world.
On this occasion we will travel to the east ascending a mountain that will quickly allow us to reach 4600 masl or 2858 masl to the Altiplano where we will be able to observe springs formed by the melting of the high peaks. We may see the fragile and shy Vicuña in its natural highland habitat and if we are lucky we may see an Andean Fox.
We will then visit a less-visited salt flat (salt flat) called Salar de Pujsa (Pujsa Salt Flats), nesting site of the James's Flamingo, which in cool weather can be found on the altiplano and during the colder months are found below in the lagoons of the Salar Atacama (Basin of the Salar de Atacama).
Next, we will travel northwest entering the Caldera la Pacana (Pacana Crater), a huge volcanic depression of 2000 square kilometers, where we will be able to see the last erosive acts that created the Monjes de Pacana (Pacana Monks), ignimbrite formations .
