Leaving Baku in the morning, we will first of all go to the pink lake Masazir. Most often, it is in the morning that it shows us its ‘pink face’. Even the sand on the shore of this amazing lake is reddish in colour. The beauty of this lake is mesmerising and peaceful at the same time.

This is the place where travellers from south to north and vice versa have been stopping for almost 3,000 years. Here, the spurs of the Greater Caucasus come closest to the Caspian Sea, creating a geographical and climatic divide. This can be felt literally at a few hundred metres.
