The Santa Teresa Tram is a passenger urban transportation company that has been operating in the city of Rio de Janeiro since the mid-18th century, becoming a historical icon of the city and still running today through the nostalgic streets of the Santa Teresa neighborhood.

The house is the meeting of neocolonial architecture with the Tijuca Forest, and its collection, formed over 60 years, is an important collection of modernism and informal abstractionism in Brazil. The garden is a fundamental element of the house. It is one of the first projects made by the famous landscaper Burle Marx for a private property, featuring tropical plants.
