The driver will pick you up at your accommodation and bring you to Ancient Ostia, a large archaeological site where you will meet your guide.
Ostia was the port of Rome and, although it was covered in mud for centuries, it is still well preserved today. Here everything is more or less intact: condominiums (insulae), houses, barracks, warehouses, offices, taverns but also spas, theatres and temples, which your guide will help you repopulate with imagination.
Of particular interest, are the Baths of Neptune. On the terrace, you will admire some magnificent mosaics and your guide will show you many more! In fact, as you enter the city and despite the numerous plundering, you can find many well-preserved buildings.
In addition to the Baths, you can visit Domus and insulae and still, inserted in many buildings, are mitre, dye-works and laundries and the city theatre. The House of Diana is a typical condominium of which two floors survive. You can easily imagine what life was like more than two millennia ago.
Admire the warehouses of Epagathiana and Thermopolium that would not appear out of place in any Italian city of the 21st century! Seeing is believing!
Our guide will be in possession of tickets for the sites to visit.
During the booking, the client must kindly indicate the language of the tour.
