Explore the UNESCO-listed Ancient City of Ephesus, one of the best-preserved Greco-Roman cities in the world. Highlights include the Odeon, once used for musical performances; the Temple of Domitian, among the earliest temples dedicated to a Roman emperor; and the magnificent Celsus Library, the third-largest library of the ancient world.
You will also discover the impressive Great Amphitheatre, one of the largest in antiquity with a capacity of 24,000 people, where St. Paul famously preached to the Ephesians. As you walk through the city, you’ll encounter Marble Street, the Roman Baths, elegant fountains, temples, the Agora, historic public toilets, and many other remarkable structures that bring ancient Ephesus to life.
The Terrace Houses of Ephesus are a remarkable complex of elegant residential villas situated on the northern slope of Bülbüldağı Hill, directly beside Curetes Street and opposite the Temple of Hadrian. To date, two major sections—known as the Eastern and Western complexes—have been uncovered. These homes were laid out according to the Hippodamian plan, featuring streets that intersect at perfect right angles, reflecting the advanced urban planning of the ancient world.
Excavations began in 1960, and restoration work continues to this day. With each passing year, new sections, mosaics, frescoes, and architectural details are revealed, making the Terrace Houses one of the most fascinating and continuously evolving areas of Ephesus.
We will visit the Basilica of St. John the Apostle, a sacred site believed to mark the final resting place of St. John, who is thought to have spent his last years in the region of Ephesus. His tomb was located beneath the central dome of this once-magnificent basilica, making it an important pilgrimage destination throughout history.
During our visit, you will also enjoy a panoramic view of the Temple of Artemis—one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World—and the historic Isabey Mosque. Your guide will share the fascinating stories and significance of these iconic landmarks as you overlook them from the hill.
You will also have the chance to explore authentic local handicrafts and, if you choose, enjoy a truly genuine shopping experience. Your professional local tour guide will be by your side to offer valuable insights—highlighting the finest traditional crafts, recommending the most reputable places to visit, and providing expert tips to ensure a smooth, enjoyable, and completely hassle-free experience.
