Tipu Sultan is a legend on many counts. In this walking tour we will trace his life from the day he fought a tiger and killed it with a dagger, his brave battles with the British, his administrative and economic reforms and his pioneering usage of rockets in warfare. We will visit his Summer Palace, the armoury he kept to fight the British, a medieval temple, Bangalore Fort which was refurbished by Tipu’s father Hyder Ali and the bustling KR market.

KR market is one of the busiest and most famous markets in Bangalore. The bustling market is a riot of colors and acts as a nerve center for small traders and shop owners. We will visit the Flower market.
Built-in 1537 by Kempe Gowda the founder of Bangalore as a mud fort, it was reinforced with stone by Tipu’s father Hyder Ali in 1761. We will talk about how the fort played a role in the Anglo Mysore wars between Tipu and the British forces led by the legendary Lord Cornwallis.
Note Fort is closed on Sundays. If you book this tour on a Sunday we will not see the Fort.
The Summer Palace of Tipu is a fascinating structure with teak pillars and frescoes. The Palace captures key milestones in Tipu’s life including his early life, economic and social reforms undertaken by him, his victories and eventual defeat as well.
We visit the magnificent Kote Venkataraman Temple. Built in the 17th century this temple follows an archietcure style which is a fusion of Dravidian and Vijayanagar elements. This temple provided the setting for the treasure hunt in the book Riddle of the Seventh Stone.
We will stop at the 200-year-old armory. This is where Tipu used to store his weapons for this many battles with the British.
