Going up the sacred river, you go to the Okumiya, sanctuary from the bottom, then return via the Nakamiya then finish the tour with the Honden, main building. The village of Kibune (now administratively attached to the city of Kyoto) welcomes us. Its traditional Japanese houses line the Kibune River.
We first go to Okumiya where Kuraokami and Takaokami, water deities, are revered. The Okumiya is considered the oldest and holiest site of the site.
We go to Nakamiya, where the deity Iwanagahime is revered, associated with longevity, stability and permanence.
We finally go to Honden, the main building where Kuraokami no Kami, the major deity of water, rain, clouds and the hydrological cycle, is revered.
