In the morning our guide will pick you up at your hotel to accompany you to visit the city of Light of America, internationally recognized for having the largest and best preserved historic center in Latin America. We begin with an interesting tour of the most traditional market in Quito, we will observe flowers, fruits, typical foods and the daily life of the people who come to this market to make their purchases. We continue to the Basilica of the National Vote, considered the most important work of neo-Gothic architecture in our country and where we can climb its towers, observe its gargoyles and walk through its interiors that have not yet been finished according to legend.
We move towards the Plaza Grande or Plaza de la Independencia, where the Government Palace or Carondelet Palace is located, the Municipal Building and the City Cathedral, after a few steps we will arrive at La Compañía de Jesús Church, a jewel of Baroque architecture and an impressive sample of Quito's colonial art, we continue to the Church of San Francisco where we will learn about the interesting myths and legends that took place during its construction.
In this square we will have the opportunity to savor one of the best chocolates made with fine Ecuadorian aroma cocoa, after this delicious stop we will walk until we reach Morales street, or better known as Ronda, a place full of colorful houses that have been preserved since the colonial and republican times, here our guide will make recommendations and give you the necessary time to have lunch (not included).
We continue to the Panecillo viewpoint located at the top of the hill of the same name at 3,035 masl, and which was formerly known as "shungoloma" or heart hill, here is a large-scale aluminum replica (45mts.) of the Virgin of Quito, sculpted by Quito artist Bernardo de Legarda and whose original is displayed on the main altar of the Church of San Francisco.
We head north of the city until we reach the viewpoint of the Pululahua volcano from where we can see one of the few inhabited craters in the world.
then we will move to the Middle of the World City Complex (admission not included), here our guide will take you to visit replicas of the ancestral houses of the inhabitants of Ecuador, our guide will also demonstrate through interactive games the physical phenomena that only occur in the middle of the world, then we will be able to observe the monument built in honor of the French scientific expedition that located the exact position geographic location of the equator line that divides the world and take an original and fun photograph in both hemispheres, our guide will take you inside the monument to visit the ethnographic museum and learn about Ecuadorian indigenous cultures and nationalities. Please take into account that the pass included in your tour gives you unlimited access to all the attractions of the Complex so you can organize with your guide the tour that is most interesting for you.
