Jan Wellem, the most powerful man in the city in the 17th century. JH, brings Düsseldorf's history to life and takes you through the Altstadtgassen. Between the castle tower, the market square and the old harbour you can feel the spirit of bygone times – and the presence of the old town with its “longest counter” right next to it.
The city of Düsseldorf was the home of Jan Wellem's 2nd son, Jan Wellem . His wife, Anna Luisa Maria DE’ Medici, was from Florence. With it, the Baroque Regent Duesseldorf brought a cultural flourishing. His famous collection of paintings lifts the city onto the European map and paves the way for it to become an international art metropolis.

From there, Jan Wellem leads his “noble group of guests” along the old harbor to the banks of the Rhine and further through the streets and alleys of the historic old town. On this route you can admire the most important highlights of the old town, such as the Lambertus Church or the castle tower.
