About this experience

Groot Constantia is the oldest farm in the Cape dating back more than 300 years; it is also the site on which the first wine was produced in the country. Today a national heritage site and fully-operational wine farm, Groot Constantia is a popular tourist destination. The Manor House has been restored to its former glory; one of the star architectural features to look out for is the gable. The house is home to a fine collection of Cape furniture dating back to the 18th and early 19th centuries. Furniture is set out in themes wherever possible and items range from lounge and dining room pieces to kitchen utensils. The original wine cellar houses a display of drinking vessels and winemaking equipment that date back hundreds of years as well as part of the carriage collection.
