About this experience

This is a tour designed to enjoy some sightseeing on a transfer to the eastern coastal town of Trincomalee or the beaches of Nilaveli just north of it. The transfer therefore includes a heritage highlight, the cave temples of Dambulla, as well as a wildlife experience, namely an elephant safari.

Detailed itinerary

Around lunchtime we will take a break at the Golden Temple of Dambulla, which is world-famous for its ancient Buddhist cave temple. These are the largest painted caves in Sri Lanka, the murals are considered to be the most excellent paintings in the Kandyan style.

The afternoon safari will take place in Minneriya or Kaudulla National Park or Hurula Eco Park, depending on where the most elephants can be seen at the specific day of your excursion. In the northern summer and autumn months, the migrating animals can be seen in large herds, bathing in the evening, an event famously known as Elephant Gathering.

Your final destination will be Trincomalee or one of the long sandy beaches nearby, such as Nilaveli or Uppuweli.
