About this experience

The tour of the island by minibus is undoubtedly one of the most recommended excursions during the first few days of your holiday to fully grasp the essence of the island, characterised by the perfect fusion of sea and mountains, man-made landscapes and wild nature, spas, wellness, history and culture.
We begin with hotel pick-up and then set off to discover the six municipalities that make up the island, with more or less brief stops in the most evocative corners, amidst enchanting views and characteristic villages.
In particular, a slightly longer stop (about 1 hr) is made in the picturesque village of Sant'Angelo, an ancient fishermen's dwelling, now a small elite pearl with its small square overlooking the small harbour, surrounded by small restaurants and luxurious boutiques. At the end of the tour, you are released back to your hotel, probably with new ideas for discovering the island at its best, with the memory of unforgettable scenery.

Detailed itinerary

1

Island of Ischia

2

Forio, also known erroneously as Forio d' Ischia, with its ca. 13 km of territory is the largest municipality on the island. According to Jasolino, a 16th-century doctor, the name Forìo derives from Fiorio as, after the destruction of many villas and castles, it flourished being the largest on the island, well fortified with twelve towers, with artillery, and with many valuable people; other scholars believe instead from phoros (fertile), others from the Greek chorìon (village).

3

Lacco Ameno with the Bay of San Montano, enclosed like a shell between Monte Vico and Monte Zaro.
The view is lost in infinity, caressed by the blue sea and the rocks that are home to dense vegetation of Mediterranean pines, chestnut trees, carobs, oaks and broom.
Stop for about 5 minutes

4

The municipality of Casamicciola Terme is located on the northern side of the island of Ischia.
From a historical point of view, it represents the municipality on the island with the oldest tourist vocation.

5

The municipality of Serrara Fontana is so called from the towns of Serrara (main town) and Fontana, along the slopes of Mount Epomeo, about 360 m above sea level with a predominantly agricultural economy. However, the municipal territory is also made up of other hamlets and villages.
The most renowned is Sant'Angelo, a small fishing village: it is one of the most beautiful and fascinating places on the island and has become a leading, almost exclusive tourist centre. It is no coincidence that the so-called Torre di Sant'Angelo, an enormous tuffaceous boulder linked to the rest of the island by a small isthmus, is today the symbol of the entire mountain municipality.
Stop for 1h at the village of Sant'Angelo

6

The municipality of Ischia stretches along the north-eastern coast of the island and for those coming from the mainland, it is the first municipality and also the main centre of the island of Ischia.
Its surface area is about 9 square kilometres and it has a population of about 16,000 inhabitants.
