About this experience

Visitors will discover the role that the rock has had over the millennia for local populations, for hermits in search of peace, for fauna and flora.
We will see how the rocky environments have offered refuge against imminent dangers, adverse climatic conditions and dysfunctional habits.
Through the exhibition of stories, anecdotes and legends, the hiker will be led into a hidden, mysterious and often forgotten world.

We will find out:

-an ancient ruin in which, during the Second World War, some Rocchettani went to take refuge;
-a rocky wall that hosts birds of prey and passerines;
-an ancient rock church (Madonna delle Grotte) in which some Benedictine hermits lived;
-an archaeological site (Grotte Reali) attesting to the presence of hominid communities in the Volturno Valley.
