Construction of the bridge began on 19 July 2009 (the same day as the inauguration of the nearby Thuận Phước Bridge) when the former Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Tan Dung and many high-ranking government officials attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

Closed to the city center (5km), the most popular beach My Khe is the common name of the coastline lasted 10km from the base of the Son Tra Peninsula to the Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son).

The canal-lined historical part of the city is very well preserved and reflects the diversity of its architecture, influenced by different eras and peoples. In Hoi An you can see Chinese houses with shops on the ground floor, colorful French colonial buildings, original ornate Vietnamese houses and Japanese buildings such as the legendary Covered Bridge with a pagoda.
