We’ll visit four specially selected venues to savor house specialties, each accompanied by a glass of wine or beer. Our knowledgeable guide will explore the gastronomic history, recipes, and unique flavors of each stop. Throughout the tour, we'll pass iconic landmarks like Calle Atocha and Plaza Mayor, providing opportunities to socialize with fellow food enthusiasts and see the city from a fresh perspective. The experience concludes back at The point of origin with a private sit-down dinner in a 120-year-old cellar. We will gather at Calle de Atocha 76, Madrid most renowned cooking school, where you'll be welcomed with bottomless cava while waiting for the rest of our small group to arrive. Our guide will introduce themselves and outline the route we'll follow on this culinary adventure. Feel free to leave any personal belongings here securely, as the tour will conclude at this location.
Stop at one of Madrid´s first hardware stores that has kept its original decore for over 100
years. Nowadays this restaurant portrays the personality of that hardware store while serving
delicious and high end lunches, dinners, tapas and wines. Here we will try the world famous
Croqueta and a perfectly paired glass of wine. As we move out of the restaurant, an
introduction of the neighborhood divide by calle Atocha, one of Madrid´s central streets.
Now we venture into our second stop, a restaurant that specializes on Iberian Products and
spanish cuisine. You can not leave spain with out enjyoing one of our favorite products, the
Jamon Iberico. This former Museo del Jamon has been renovated and re-decorated after the
pandemic to cater the locals. On this stop we will experience a Jamon tasting with three types
of iberian hams and our guide will elaborate on the production of these hams. Ofcourse, a
good ham must be accompanied by a good wine and our guide will recommend you one for
this tasting.
‘’Vamos por un vermouth’’, a typical expresion we have for this refreshing apertive. At this
stop you will see and try the vermouth culture first hand as we accompany this with a basque
pintxo delicacy, the "Gilda". The guide will share his knowledge on the history behind this
sweet, spicy and sour pintxo and the drink that has become a perfect match for it.
Lavapies famous for being the bohemian side of the city will be our last stop before sitting
down for dinner. Here we will go to one of the neighborhoods most renowned bars where we
will have a delicious, and smoky, charcuteri product from Leon and a typical wine of the
basque country.
We conclude our tapas tour back where we started, at Madrid´s premier and funnest cooking
school. Here, we will be welcomed into an exclusive private dining room for a sumptuous sit-
down dinner. Relax in a charming, candle-lit, 120-year-old cellar and savor a main course of
your choice: meat or fish (Vegetarian option aswell) and finish off your meal with a
delectable dessert and enjoy a bottomless wine pairing, featuring a selection of white, red,
and sparkling wines. Cap off the evening by socializing with the new friends you have made on
this tour. As a parting gift, yo will receive a PDF filled with key information, fun facts about
the restaurants, recipes, and the areas we visited plus suggestion of places to visit during your
stay in Madrid.
We will meet at Calle de Atocha 76 where you will be able to safely leave backpacks and personal belongs you do not wish to carry with you on the tour as we will be returning here once the tour is over.
