Monkey Fingers Canyon, located in the heart of the Dades Valley, is one of the most impressive natural gems in southern Morocco. Its name comes from the singular shape of its rocks sculpted by erosion, which evoke huge monkey fingers. This unique site offers a spectacular landscape of reddish cliffs, narrow gorges and amazing rock formations, changing color as the day progresses according to sunlight.
Hiking in Monkey Fingers Canyon is an unforgettable experience, accessible at all levels. The route takes about 2 to 3 hours and crosses a breathtaking scenery: passages between the large stone walls, small paths winding between the rocks, and panoramic views of the Dades valley and the surrounding mountains. It is an ideal place for lovers of nature, photography and peace.
The hike begins in a small Berber village at the foot of the Dadès mountains. You pass through irrigated gardens and terraced fields where locals grow their vegetables, almonds and fig trees. The Guide will explain the traditional way of life and local customs.
You then enter the famous Monkey Fingers Canyon, so named because of its amazing rock formations that resemble monkey fingers. The path winds between huge red walls sculpted by wind and water, offering a unique natural spectacle.
The return is by another, more open path that overlooks the canyon. You’ll see the Dades Valley stretching out in front of you, with its villages, palm groves and ochre mountains.
Our guides will meet you directly at the main entrance of the hostel Miguirne , easily recognizable by their name MEHDI/AHMED/LAHCENE/HOUCINE
