Sigiriya is a 5th-century ancient rock fortress and palace in Sri Lanka, built by King Kashyapa on a 200-meter-high rock. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring ruins of an upper palace on the flat summit, lower palaces below, a famous Lion Gate, and a Mirror Wall with ancient frescoes. The site is also known for its elaborate water and boulder gardens and represents a significant example of ancient Sri Lankan urban planning, engineering, and art.

Minneriya National Park is a Sri Lankan park famous for its large elephant population, especially the annual "Gathering" of hundreds of elephants at the Minneriya Tank during the dry season (July to September).
