It is believed that the Ananuri fortress was founded in the 16th century. In the first half of the 19th century, a Russian garrison was located here, which guarded the Georgian Military Highway. And in 1829 the fortress was visited by A.S. Pushkin during his trip to Georgia. Currently, the fortress is open to everyone. Entrance to the territory is free.
