Detailed itinerary

1

Start of the visit in the spiritual heart of Mijas. The hermitage-sanctuary excavated from the rock in the 17th century is one of the most unique places in the village. From the nearby viewpoints you get spectacular views of the Mediterranean coast, understanding the strategic importance of the enclave.

2

This square is one of the most emblematic and lively spaces of Mijas Pueblo, a meeting point between local life and religious tradition. From here you can access the Shrine of the Virgin of the Rock, excavated from the rock in the 17th century according to popular tradition, and considered the spiritual heart of the town.

Surrounded by white houses, small shops and artisan workshops, the square allows you to understand the evolution of the town from its Andalusian origin to its current configuration. The stop offers time to admire the surroundings, learn about the history of the patron saint of Mijas and enjoy one of the most representative prints of the village before continuing the guided tour.

3
Stop 3

Walk through one of the most emblematic and photographed spaces of the village. The tradition of the famous “donkey-taxis”, linked to the local agricultural past, is explained as you tour the gardens and remains of the old wall with open views of the landscape.

4
Stop 4

Tour of the traditional urban fabric of Andalusian origin: narrow streets, whitewashed facades and florid balconies that show the architectural adaptation to the climate and historical daily life.

5

Zone that reflects the administrative and social evolution of the people after the Christian conquest. The old City Hall, now the Municipal Museum, allows you to interpret local history, while the market evokes traditional commercial activity.

6
Stop 6

Stop dedicated to religious heritage and urban transformation after the 16th century. The Church of the Immaculate, built on the ancient mosque, preserves Mudejar elements that reflect cultural continuity.

7
Stop 7

Last part of the tour with a view of the most contemporary Mijas. It highlights the unique oval-plan Bullring, rare in Spain, and the final viewpoints that offer a complete panorama of the territory before the return.

8

Last part of the tour with a complete view of the village. The unique oval-plan Bullring stands out – one of a kind – and the final viewpoints with spectacular views before returning to the starting point.
