Even though the old kingdom no longer exists, old architecture can still be marveled at and also traditional costumes are still worn today.
Enter Weishan from the north through the beautiful and impressive Gongshen gate, which is all that survived of the original wall that encircled the town. Visit the diverse historical sites in the old town or the food street, full of local dishes and snacks you should not miss.
In the morning, you will visit Weibao Shan, one of China's fourteen holy Taoist mountains with 22 old Taoist temples, from which the first were built in the Tang dynasty. Enjoy a stroll along the green mountain sides and ancient temples.
After Weibaoshan, we will visit East Lotus Village (Donglianhua village), a hamlet mainly inhabited by Hui minority Muslims, decedents from the Mongol army that conquered Yunnan in the 13th century. The village has a large mosque and there are many mosques in the area. The Ma family build three impressive courtyard houses with the money they made with trade along the Tea Horse routes. We will then drive back to Dali and get dropped off at your hotel or Dali Old Town.
