Our first stop will be at this panoramic viewpoint. The drive here usually takes about 30 minutes from the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Cruise Port, and approximately 70 minutes if you are coming from the South of the island.
At this location, we will make two distinct stops at spectacular viewpoints. One of them offers a stunning 360° panoramic view on clear days, providing a full perspective of the island's rugged beauty.
You will also have the opportunity to walk through the relict laurel forest. This is a unique chance to see with your own eyes the ancient endemic species that have survived on Tenerife since before the last Ice Age. It is a living museum of natural history.
We will drive to the trailhead, a journey of approximately 30 minutes. Our route takes us through the heart of a dense, ancient laurel forest, eventually leading us to a unique village.
Here, you will see a remarkable way of life: half of the dwellings are built directly into the cliffs, forming traditional cave houses. It’s a fascinating glimpse into how the local inhabitants have integrated their homes into the natural rock for generations.
We begin our hike by ascending along a specially maintained official trail. This path allows us to venture deep into the ancient laurel forest while staying right on the crest of the mountain.
Our return journey takes us through San Cristóbal de La Laguna, the first capital of Tenerife. From here, the drive to Santa Cruz de Tenerife takes approximately 30 minutes, while reaching the South of the island will take about 60 minutes.
