Detailed itinerary

1

Mende, on the Place du Foirail (coach stop), is our departure point. Starting from the Lot valley which we will follow for around 30 minutes, we will be struck by the difference in fauna, flora and landscapes with the Aubrac plateau where we will spend the day.

2

We leave the Lot valley to join the Aubrac Regional Natural Park. At the start of our excursion, we take the Aubrac lakes road which passes through the Bonnecombe pass, one of the most emblematic of the plateau. We will make a photo stop.

3

A magical waterfall of around thirty meters, overlooking a small cave made of basalt organs. The Déroc waterfall is an emblematic place in Aubrac.

4

We arrive in Aveyron, the neighboring department. In the aptly named village of Aubrac, we will stop for lunch in a buron, formerly a shepherd's shelter and incidentally a cheese dairy. Lunch will consist of the unmissable aligot and sausage (possibility of changing for a vegetarian dish, or for a piece of Aubrac meat - please let us know at the start of the excursion). We will reach Laguiole in around 20 minutes.

5

The village of the most famous French knife! We will visit a cutlery to better see how this knife is made. Maybe it's time to buy your own Laguiole? Then you will have free time in the village to visit this small typical Aveyron village. It will take us about 1h30 on beautiful roads with great landscapes to return to Mende.

6

The return route is marked by other typical landscapes of the Aubrac plateau, with these fields demarcated by rows of stones, and the horizon as the only limit. After about 1 hour of driving, we will arrive in Mende.
