A Day in Arraial do Cabo Guided Tour

Located at one end of Cabo Frio Island, although belonging to Arraial do Cabo, the Fenda da Nossa Senhora Aparecida is a rock formation that appears to have been cut like a slice of the island's cake. The story goes that in 1721 a fisherman found a statue of Our Lady of Aparecida there, beginning a journey that took her in procession to the Church of Our Lady of Assunção, in Cabo Frio, where she was solemnly enthroned. Nowadays, an image of the Saint is present both in the church in Cabo Frio and inside the crevice itself in Arraial do Cabo. The opening is about 5 meters wide by 40 meters high, almost reaching sea level. Before this opening, there is a rocky part exactly where the statue of the Saint is sheltered.
