A scenic drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway brings us to our first two stops. We’ll begin at a breathtaking mountain overlook offering panoramic views, plus convenient restrooms and a gift shop with snacks. From there, we’ll continue into Pisgah National Forest to visit a beautiful roadside waterfall that requires no hiking but with the option to take a short, moderate hike to a second waterfall nearby.
A short drive from the waterfalls brings us to the charming mountain town of Brevard. Here, you’ll have free time to enjoy lunch at one of the town’s excellent local restaurants and explore its unique shops, bakeries, coffee spots, art galleries, and museum. I’ll share local insights and recommend favorite establishments, then give you the space to explore at your own pace, while always being available if you’d like guidance or assistance. As we leave Brevard we will stop by Brevard College to see if we can spot any of the local white squirrels.
Our final destination is Hendersonville, home to the second largest downtown in western North Carolina, right after Asheville. This vibrant area is brimming with activities, sights, and flavors to enjoy. Stroll along the beautifully landscaped Main Street, with over 100 shops and 25 restaurants, you'll find a delightful mix of locally-owned, high-quality stores and galleries to explore. In addition to the vibrant downtown scene, Hendersonville offers several free museums. Just outside the downtown area, you’ll find a variety of attractions, including charming orchards, scenic farms, delightful wineries, and local breweries. We can discuss ahead of time your specific interests and tailor the stops to you and your guests. From Hendersonville, we will make our way back to the Asheville area.
If you are not within range of pickup, or simply choose to meet me, we will meet at a silver Honda Odyssey van parked in the far west area of the parking lot of the visitor center. I will be holding a small North Carolina flag.
