Our journey starts from the city centre of Tromsø. We will soon cross the bridge to Kvaløya (the Whale Island), which is the 5th largest island off the coast of Norway. Magical Kvaløya can best be described as a miniature version of the North of Norway with its steep and scenic mountains, white sandy beaches, stunning fjords and crystal-clear blue water.
At the start of our snowshoe hike, we will move gently uphill and immediately enter a Winter Wonderland full of crooked birch trees resembling a mythical Norwegian troll forest. We will also find spruce and pine trees in this area. Keep an eye out for moose, reindeer, fox, hare and other wildlife. And don’t forget to look up towards the sky as you might catch the sight of white-tailed eagles.
As we continue hiking uphill, the panoramic views will gradually get more and more impressive. There are several good locations where we can stop for photos.
This tour takes you far from the city into the heart of Arctic nature, where snow-covered peaks, frozen lakes, and absolute silence create a magical atmosphere.
The van will be parked in front of Magic Ice bar (Kaigata, 4). The guide will meet you 15 minutes before the activity.
