About this experience

Discover the haunted history of Boggo Road, on a 2hr guided storytelling experience. Hear of the spooky ghosts said to haunt the old prison, explore two cellblocks in the dark, and the exhibition “The Gallows: Capital Punishment & Punishment”.

Learn about the cruel punishments for bad behaviour, and the true crimes and fates of those prisoners who were executed. Relics on display include the awful Gallows Beam and a piece of the dreaded dungeon known as the “Black Hole”. Every visitor receives a copy of The Ghosts of Boggo Road Gaol written by Ghost Tours Australia Director, Jack Sim.

All travellers must have be fully vaccinated to attend the tour (unless you have a valid exemption or under the age of 16) - Proof of vaccination or exemption must be shown at check-in or you will be refused entry. No refund granted.
Clients must be wearing flat-soled enclosed shoes. If you are wearing thongs, sandals or high heels you will be declined entry. No refund granted.
Each guest is required to bring their own torch. Torch apps on smart phones are suitable.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your tour for check-in.

Meet your guide at the "Tours Start Here" Sign in front of the large green gates. Toilets will be available from the verandah 15 minutes prior to the tour.

Important notes

• Clients must be wearing flat-soled enclosed shoes. Thongs, sandals and high heels will not be permitted on tour.
• Each guest is required to bring their own torch. Torch apps on smart phones are suitable. Torches must be turned on when directed to move, however they can be turned off when stopped for atmosphere. Anyone found to be deliberately flashing torches into another's face will be immediately removed from the tour
• We believe the weather really adds to the atmosphere of a tour. If there is rain, please bring an umbrella and or raincoat, and enjoy the tour. Tours will only be cancelled if conditions become dangerous - we will notify you in these circumstances close to the tour time.
• Toilet facilities will ony be available 15 minutes prior to tour commencement.
• The consumption of alcohol and use of illegal substances are not permitted BEFORE or DURING a tour, any client believed to be intoxicated, inebriated, or otherwise under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol will not be admitted at time of check-in.
• Smoking/ vaping is not permitted at any time during our tours. If anyone forgets this, and starts smoking, they will be asked to immediately cease. If they do not, they will be asked to leave the tour.
• Mobile and tablet devices are only to be used on tour whilst taking photographs or in an emergency. If you use your phone/ tablet for any other purpose during any of our tours, you will be asked to stop. Refusal to do so may result in you being asked to leave the tour.
• Horror costumes/ makeup/ masks are not permitted to be worn. Historic Australia reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone wearing a horror costume that is deemed inappropriate or distasteful.
• Paranormal investigation / ghost hunting is strictly not permitted on tours. This includes but is not limited to: apps on mobile devices, Ouija boards, pendulums, video and still photography, psychic, medium and clairvoyant channelling of spirits.
