Overview
India Gate was designed by the renowned British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, who also served as the chief architect of New Delhi, with the monument built as a memorial to the fallen soldiers of the British Indian Army in World War I and the Third Anglo-Afghan War, unveiled in 1931.
Humayun's Tomb was commissioned by Empress Bega Begum (also known as Haji Begum), Humayun's first wife, in 1569-70, after his death, with construction starting in 1565 and finishing around 1572, and it was designed by Persian architects Mirak Mirza Ghiyas and his son Sayyid Muhammad. This first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent fused Persian and Indian styles, serving as a prototype for later Mughal architecture, including the Taj Mahal, and was built by his grieving widow to honor him.
The Qutub Minar, located in Delhi, India, is the world's tallest brick minaret and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, standing at 72.5 meters. Founded in 1199 by Qutbu'd-Din Aibak and completed by his successors, this 5-story tower features intricate carvings, projecting balconies, and is constructed from red sandstone and marble.
