Welcome to the University of Alcala! "Access Included in the University"
Touring the University of Alcalá with someone who has studied in their classrooms is a totally different experience. On this tour I invite you to discover the dream of Cardinal Cisneros. Decipher the secrets of the Swan Apple, where geniuses like Lope de Vega or Quevedo studied.
The route is presented as the very life of a 16th century student. I'll start by admiring greatness from the outside and then sneak into the guts of knowledge.
What'll you visit?
· Convent of “Malaga” (Faculty of Philosophy and Letters)
· El Parador and the Student Hostel
· St. Peter and Paul Street
· Calle Libreros
· Facade of the University of Alcalá
· The Chapel of San Ildefonso
· Patio de Santo Tomas de Villanueva
· Courtyard of Philosophers and Trilingual
· The Paraninfo
And a final secret! Like on my other tour, I have a game prepared at the end, to see what happens to the winner ;)
We will make the introduction to the Tour and also see its history as Santa Ursula Street and Calle Escritorios.
We will make a visual stop at the old College of San Jerónimo. We will see how a place of study and prayer has become a reference of luxury and gastronomy.
We will make a visual stop at the old College of Saint Thomas Aquinas.
There are no palaces here, there are Minor Colleges here. You will understand the difference between the rich and the “solemnity poor.”
The name says it all. The old information highway of the 16th century. Here were the printing presses that gave birth to the Golden Age. We will feel the hustle and bustle that precedes the big square.
After we surround her, we stand in front of her. It's not just a pretty wall, it's an open book carved in stone.
A Cisneros-style treasure where the tomb of the Cardinal rests (a marble masterpiece of Carrara).
Pure elegance and the administrative heart of today's university.
Here you breathe the atmosphere of the ancient “City of God” and the bustle of classical student life.
Old minor college of San Jerónimo.
The Grand Final. We will enter the most famous classroom in the world, under its impressive Mudéjar coffering.
You will find me next to the Access Door of the Convent of “Malaga” (Faculty of Philosophy and Letters). And you'll easily recognize me because I'm wearing a card around my neck with the name Discover with David!
