Christmas Tour in Lucerne

From Schwanenplatz we walk to Kapellplatz, right next to the famous Chapel Bridge. During Christmas season, the square transforms into Venite, an international festive market with food and traditions from around the world. Guests can enjoy the cozy atmosphere, discover seasonal treats, and experience different cultures in the heart of Lucerne’s Old Town.

We continue to the iconic Chapel Bridge, the symbol of Lucerne. As we walk across, you’ll see the beautifully illuminated Old Town, the Water Tower, and the historic paintings inside the bridge — all especially magical during the Christmas season.

Our walk leads us to the elegant Jesuit Church, Lucerne’s first Baroque church. Its soft lighting, peaceful interior, and festive decorations create a beautiful moment to enjoy the city’s Christmas spirit.

We’ll stroll over to Franziskanerplatz, where the Lozärner Wiehnachtsmärt transforms the square into a magical Christmas village. About 70 festively-decorated wooden chalets line the streets, offering handcrafted gifts, local treats, and seasonal specialties.

Next, we stroll to Mühlenplatz, where we’ll see Lucerne’s iconic Advent calendar — a large illuminated calendar decorating the façade of one of the old towns buildings.

We stroll next to Weinmarkt, where you can browse the magical Luzerner Handwerksmarkt, a festive artisan market in the heart of Lucerne’s Old Town. Here, local craftsmen and women showcase their handmade creations — from ceramics, jewelry, and textiles to unique holiday gifts and decorations.

Our next stop is Kornmarkt, right beside Lucerne’s historic Town Hall. Here you’ll find the beautiful life-size Nativity scene, a beloved local tradition. The detailed wooden figures and gentle lighting create a peaceful Christmas atmosphere in the heart of the Old Town.

We continue to Eiszauber Luzern, the festive ice rink in front of the KKL. With sparkling lights, music, and lake views, this winter village creates a magical atmosphere as we walk through on our way to the final Christmas market.

Our tour ends at Inseli Park, home to the charming Rudolf Christmas Market. Expect beautifully lit stalls, festive decorations, seasonal treats, warm drinks — the perfect place to soak up Lucerne’s holiday spirit and wander through the heart of the city’s Christmas magic.
