Detailed itinerary

1

You arrive on the beautiful Holy Cross Square. Turn around: here you have a magnificent house, certainly the most famous in Angers! It must be said that it is one of the most beautiful half-timbered houses in the city, and comes straight from the 15th century.

2

Hidden behind the historic buildings, Place Saint Eloi reveals some of the city’s must-see monuments. In front of you stands the imposing tower of Saint Aubin, which is part of the abbey of the same name that was there between the 12th and 19th centuries.

3

After 20 years of excavations, archaeologists discovered one of the best preserved Carolingian monuments in France: the Collegiate Church of Saint Martin!

4

Impossible not to see it from the beginning of the street, here is the beautiful church of Saint Joseph!

5

Here you are in the heart of the Mail Garden, one of the many parks that make up the city! Did you know that Angers is considered one of the greenest cities in France?

6

Here you are in Boulevard Foch, one of the biggest arteries in downtown Angevin. Here you will find restaurants, pubs and shops, which attract many Angevins and students every day who come to enjoy the endless entertainment.

7

I propose here to look up the building on your right which, you will see, is a pretty blue at its top.

8

Thousands of Angevins pass through this central square every day, which includes bars, restaurants and shops! Originally, there were three churches here.

9

This beautiful monument in the heart of the shopping street of Angers is the Musée Pincé. Built between 1528 and 1535, it displays a Renaissance style due to the Angevin architect Jean Delespine.

10

Place du Pilori is a small central square in Angers. Pedestrian and picturesque, it is very popular, located in the heart of shops and restaurants.

11

Saint-Laud Street is one of the students’ favourite streets, and for good reason, it is full of bars and restaurants of all kinds!

12

Here we are in front of the City's Covered Point of Sale, called the Biltoki Halls, or Heart of Maine Halls. The Basque group Biltoki took charge of the project, which was inaugurated in 2023.

13

The green space on your right is called the Heart of Maine Esplanade.

14

You are currently crossing the oldest bridge that used to cross Maine. It was mentioned in the 6th century, but it is believed that it was already there since Gallo-Roman times, although there is no evidence to support it.

15

Located away from the bustle of the city center, the Doutre district has the air of a small village.

16

You have in front of you a superb panorama on the left bank of the city of Angers!

17
Stop 17 Pass by

The crossing of this bridge offers you a beautiful view of the castle of Angers, which stands proudly on the left bank of the city.

18
Stop 18 Pass by

It is since the Neolithic, about 4,000 years ago, that this rocky spur is inhabited by man!

19

You are in front of the emblematic view of Angers, on the Promenade du bout du monde that runs along the castle.

20

You are now walking in the medieval centre of Angers, characterised by its winding streets close to the castle.

21

In front of you stand the imposing towers of the Cathedral of Angers, the Cathedral of Saint-Maurice. A remarkable example of Angevin Gothic art, it was built between the 11th and 13th centuries and is of course classified as a Historic Monument.
