About this experience

Looking for a unique and accessible adventure near Mt. Fuji?
Mount Houei is the perfect spot! Formed by the great eruption of 1707, Houei is Mt. Fuji’s newest and largest crater, offering visitors a chance to walk right along the rim of a real volcano. The trail starts at the Fujinomiya Fifth Station and takes just about an hour, making it easy even for beginners, families, and anyone who wants a taste of volcanic hiking—no special equipment needed.

We will walk along the rim of the huge Houei Crater, so vast that it can’t fit into the frame of a camera. The landscape is truly out of this world, with red and black volcanic rocks and sweeping ash slopes—perfect for memorable photos.

The trail is well-maintained and not too steep, so you can relax and enjoy the journey, whether you’re an outdoor lover or just looking for a fun, easy-going adventure.
