Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi is a historical sacred bo tree (Ficus religiosa) in the Mahamewuna Garden in historical city of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. This is believed to be a tree grown from a cutting of the southern branch from the historical sacred bo tree, Sri Maha Bodhi, which was destroyed during Emperor Ashoka the Great time, at Buddha Gaya in India, under which Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha) attained Enlightenment. The Buddhist nun Sangamitta Maha Theri, a daughter of Indian Emperor Ashoka, in 288 BC, brought the tree cutting to Sri Lanka during the reign of Sinhalese King Devanampiya Tissa. At more than 2,300 years old, it is the oldest living human-planted tree in the world

The Vessagiri monks lived in rock shelters that were constructed by quarrying from local materials. Today's visitor sees only the bare stones - and not all of those, since much of the rock was later carted away and reused elsewhere.

3

Isurumuniya is most famous for the stone carving of a couple and the bas-relief figures cut into the rock there. This carved stone was found in the royal pleasure garden and brought here. There are many interpretations given for these carvings.

water to the park was supplied by Tessa Wewa and then released to rice fields around Isurumuni Vihara. A pond at Ranmasu Uyana
In the park are various ponds, and the remains of small buildings. According to legend it is believed that Prince Saliya met Asokamala in this garden

It was constructed in 380 BC. The dam of the reservoir is 10 m high. The water of the reservoir is also accumulated in the Giritale and Kantalai.[4] Currently, the reservoir is about 255 acres. The embankment of the reservoir is about 5910 feet long and 22 feet high above the sill level

Ruwanweli Maha Seya is one of the most revered Buddhist stupas in Sri Lanka. It was built by King Dutugamunu during his reign from 137 BCE to 119 BCE in Anuradhapura, the ancient capital of Sri Lanka. While it is neither the largest nor the oldest stupa erected in Anuradhapura, it is the most venerated by the Buddhists, surpassing all other great stupas. Beyond its religious importance, it stands as a national symbol, symbolizing a heroic mother and son, a valiant warrior king, and a unified Sri Lanka. The stupa enshrines the largest known collection of Buddha’s relics ever placed in a dagoba on the island, making it a revered pilgrimage site.
