Bise Village – Okinawa

History & Scenery:
The village is surrounded by a 1 km-long row of Fukugi trees, originally planted as a windbreak to protect homes from typhoons. Some trees are estimated to be over 300 years old, offering a glimpse of Okinawa’s traditional landscape.

Because there are many scenic spots and activities, visitors often spend several hours or more enjoying the area.

7

Located in Yanbaru National Park in Kunigami Village, Okinawa, this site features a giant karst landscape formed from limestone about 250 million years ago. Visitors can trek among unusual rock formations and banyan forests, and the area is also known as a powerful spiritual spot featured in Ryukyu mythology.

Because it is far from Naha, opportunities to take photos in such a unique natural setting are very rare and special.

8

Located in Nanjo City, Cape Chinen is a stunning cape overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
At Chinen Cape Park, you can stroll along walking paths, relax at the red-tiled pavilion, and take in panoramic views of Kudaka and Komaka Islands against the emerald-green sea.

9

Manzamo is one of Okinawa’s most famous coastal scenic spots, located in Onna Village, Kunigami District. The site features a vast natural lawn atop 20-meter-high Ryukyu limestone cliffs, offering stunning views of the East China Sea.

Highlights:

Elephant Trunk Rock: A rock formation shaped like an elephant’s trunk, formed by wave erosion, is the most famous photo spot.

Scenery: The emerald-green sea and sunsets are especially beautiful.

Origin of the Name: In the early 18th century, King Shō Kei of Ryukyu praised the area as a “lawn vast enough for 10,000 people to sit,” giving it the name Manzamo.

10

Shuri Castle was the heart of the Ryukyu Kingdom for about 450 years, starting in 1429.
Unlike castles in other parts of Japan, it represents Okinawa’s unique culture and history.
The visit can take around one hour if you focus on taking photos, but spending more than an hour is recommended to fully appreciate the castle.

Motobu Town is blessed with rich nature where emerald-green seas, mountains, and lush greenery come together.
Beaches such as Minna Beach and Sesoko Beach are known for some of the clearest waters in Japan, offering stunning coastal scenery.

Inland, Mount Yaedake, famous for its cherry blossoms, adds seasonal beauty, while the 300-year-old Fukugi tree-lined paths create a calm, timeless atmosphere. Motobu is also home to Shioya Bay, one of only two natural saltwater springs in the world.

This diverse landscape makes Motobu an ideal setting for an active photo adventure, with dynamic scenes from coast to forest waiting to be captured.

12

Located at the southern edge of Okinawa’s main island, Itoman is known for the striking contrast between rugged coastal cliffs and clear, shallow blue seas. The area’s scenery is closely tied to the history of local fishermen, creating a peaceful landscape shaped by both nature and tradition.

Along the coast, places like Arasaki Coast feature dramatic rock formations, while Kitanashiro Beach offers untouched natural shores. Inland, sugarcane fields glow at sunset, adding a warm, timeless atmosphere.

With its blend of wild nature and history, Itoman provides a powerful setting for an active photo adventure, capturing Okinawa’s raw southern beauty.

13

Yanbaru is a vast subtropical forest covering northern Okinawa and was designated a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site in 2021. Often called the “Galapagos of the East,” it is home to many rare and endemic species found nowhere else in the world.
