The city of Pompeii was destroyed and buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. This devastating eruption covered Pompeii in 4 to 6 meters (13 to 20 feet) of ash and pumice, and the city remained lost for nearly 1,700 years until its accidental rediscovery in 1749. Since then, excavations have provided an extraordinarily detailed insight into life during the height of the Roman Empire. Walking through the excavated site, you'll encounter perfectly preserved baths, theaters, temples, markets, and forums, allowing you to step back into the lives of ancient Romans.
After this extraordinary tour, you will be driven back home!
