The Pharaonic Village The idea of the Pharaonic Village began with a dream where Dr. Hassan Rajab thought of creating a living museum that would include real people dressed in Pharaonic garb and embodying ancient Egyptian life. Therefore, in 1974, Dr. Hassan Ragab began transforming Yacoub Island into a model that closely matches the life of the ancient Egyptians. The first step was to plant approximately five thousand trees around the village to obscure the aspects of modern Cairo.
