About this experience

Experience Vietnam’s Buddhism up close—both familiar and intriguingly unconventional—at Bai Dinh–Trang An. Wander the country’s largest pagoda complex, lined with 500 La Han (Arhat) statues, and admire Vietnam’s biggest bronze Buddha, about 10 meters tall and 100 tons. Savor rustic dishes prepared from locally grown ingredients. Then board a sampan to glide through Trang An’s jade-green waterways, where limestone cliffs tower above peaceful streams, rice paddies, and quiet green fields. Drift into the cave complex—Sang, Toi, Ba Giot, and Nau Ruou—steeped in mystery and natural wildness. Throughout, the scenery reveals why Ninh Binh is called “Ha Long Bay on land,” with mountains and rivers weaving an unforgettable panorama.
