Best of Rome Shore Excursion: Ancient Rome, Baroque Rome & Vatican Museums
Enjoy a full-day shore excursion with an English-speaking driver for Ancient and Baroque Rome and a private, authorized English-speaking guide for the Vatican Museums. Your vehicle and driver will be waiting at the port upon disembarkation and remain at your disposal throughout the day. At the end of the tour, you will be driven directly back to your ship.
Begin with Ancient Rome, visiting Via dei Fori Imperiali, the Roman Forum area, the Colosseum (outside), Circus Maximus, and the Baths of Caracalla. Continue to Baroque Rome to see the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona, with free time for lunch and strolling.
In the afternoon, meet your guide for a private tour of the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. Please note that during special events, access to St. Peter’s Basilica may not be possible.
We will fist visit Ancient Rome, from the Via dei Fori Imperiali where the impressive Forum is located, to the Colosseum(from outside), the Circus Maximus and the Baths of Caracalla. Archaeological remains can also be spotted all over the Eternal City, in the least expected places, and many can be discovered beneath the modern city of Rome.
The day continues to the Baroque Rome to see the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona and to have some free time for strolling and lunch.
Your driver would then bring you to the Vatican City to meet up with the authorized English speaking guide to start the private tour of the Vatican Museums with magnificent works of art including the Sistine Chapel with its famous ceiling painted by Michelangelo and the St. Peter's Basilica (the largest Christian church in the world, and an architectural achievement of the Renaissance and Baroque).
Please be aware that in case of special events it will be not possible to visit the inside of St. Peter's Basilica.
The vehicle & driver would be at the ship as you disembark to pick you up and bring you into the city.
There your driver will be waiting for you, holding a sign reading: " Mondo Guide"
