When we drive to the the city centre we'll walk to our second stop of the day. This is 'Kyrenia Castle'.The Castle was made by the Byzantine and many additions were made by Lusignans, Venetians, Ottomans and English. There is a shipwreck museum inside the castle which the amphoras, almonds ,seeds and the shipwreck is exhebited. The shipwreck dates back to 300BC
It was built as a harbor during the Venetian period. A chain tower is dating the same period. The harbor was built as 'U'shaped. The Customs office was built during the Colonial time. Nowadays the harbor is used as a marina for the daily boat tours. Also there are many cafes that one can enjoy to drink alchohol or soft drink
This is a military cemetery which dates back to 16th century Ottoman period. The moseleaum in the centre is believed that it belongs to one of the commanders from Ottoman garrison.
The city was surrounded by walls during the Lusignan period. This tower is the one remaining from those years.
The old Municipality Market was built by the British in 1887 as a town hall. Later the municipality market was the center for fresh fruits and vegetable until recently. The 'Bandabuliya' was later restorated and has been traditional bazaar to cafe, office and an event venue.
