About this experience
It is the only gastronomic tour in Oaxaca where you can interact with authentic traditional cooks as well as meet and taste part of the extensive cuisine of this beautiful state. We visit 3 traditional homes in different villages. A minimum of 4 people is required to operate the tour.

Detailed itinerary

45 minutes after leaving the city of Oaxaca, we will meet in the town of Reyes Etla, we will know the process of making cheese and quesillo (Oaxaca cheese), the traditional cook will give us a tasting of this dairy as well as prepare some delicious ¨memelitas "and fresh water to accompany

50 minutes after leaving Reyes Etla, we will meet in San Andrés Huayapam. In this town, the traditional cook will receive us at her home (an authentic village house) where she will explain the process of making the "Tejate" drink of the gods made from cocoa and corn, we will enjoy this delicious drink and then give step to the preparation of mole tamales with chicken. Each participant will be able to prepare their own tamales with the help of the traditional cook. While the tamales are cooked in a clay pot, we can learn about the cocoa roasting process, as well as being able to have the experience of grinding the cocoa in metate. For lunch, we will sit down to enjoy a delicious delicacy consisting of tamales, water chocolate, tejate and a delicious nicuatole for dessert.

To end our tour, we will know the process of making the "pan de cazuela" delicious traditional bread of the town which is filled with chocolate and raisins. The master baker will open the doors of his house for us to get involved in the process of making bread, we will be able to play with the dough, fill it with chocolate and learn to shape it and assemble it in its mold. Our tour will end with a tasting of traditional bread with water chocolate.
