A panoramic view of Hiroshima's proud Japanese heritage Onomichi City from the precincts.Daiho-san Gongen-in Senkoji Temple is located 140m above sea level on the middle slope of Mt. Daiho, overlooking Onomichi Port.
When you go down the mountain, you will visit Cat Alley. The area known as Ihatov is filled with quirky art galleries, garden cafes, sake bars and “fukuishi neko” (lucky stone cats). Shunji Sonoyama hand painted 108 of these stone cats each unique with different expressions. Visitors can find these feline statues on fences, in trees, on roofs and within the cafes.

Onomichi Hondori Shopping Street lies from the mountain foot to Onomichi Station. You'll find shops which last for a long time, Onomichi specialties, and foods! You can feel the nostalgy and the seasonal Japanese local life.

Overlooking the wonderful view of Tomonoura, Taicho-ro was built around 320 years ago, around 1690, as a guest hall for Fukuzen-ji Temple, a Shingon Buddhist temple. From the tatami room, you can get a wonderful view of Tomonoura, with Sensuijima and Bentenjima floating in the calm Seto Inland Sea.
